Harish & Nithu tied the knot at EM EM EL Kalyana Mandapam in Chennai. The Wedding festivities were beautiful with amazing vibrant colors of women Sarees / Madisaar and men in their elegant pattu veshti's. This was my first official Tamil Bhrahmin Wedding so I was more than thrilled to be able to capture the various rituals and events in the wedding,

The various rituals begin.

The Exchange of garlands was one my favorite in the wedding where the maternal uncles of both, the bride and groom, try their utmost to prevent their ward being garlanded, while the opposite side tries to encourage their ward!

Soon after the exchange of garlands, the to-be wed couple is seated on a swing( Oonjal in Tamil). The swing is decorated with flowers and ornaments. The couple are fed a mixture of bananas,milk and sugar by women from both families. Before the couple get up from the swing, they are asked to hold hands for the first time. The groom leads the bride to the dias where the wedding is to take place.

Finally the Marriage itself!

After a few rituals the groom ties the Mangalsutra mounted ona yellow thred around the neck of the bride,
